Water Based Activities

We’ve Recently partnered up with Derwent Water Marina to offer a range of water-based activities as well! From Row boats to Windsurfing, if you want to get on the water they’ve got something to suit you.

 

Derwent water marina is based in Portinscale on the shores of Derwent Water in Keswick. For those with experience, you can hire a variety of different craft or if you’ve never done it before you can book an instructor-led session with one of their friendly staff.


Hire

Derwent Water Marina’s excellent hire fleet includes a range of over 100 good quality and well-maintained kayaks, canoes, rowing boats, sailing dinghies, stand up paddle boards and windsurfers. Whatever your age or ability, you can be sure to find something to suit. Please note: we do advise that you reserve your craft during busier times of the year.
Derwent Water is a great lake to explore by boat, offering fantastic views in every direction.
• Why not take a picnic and explore one of the islands?
• They offer tuition for all the activities and can arrange guided trips around the lake.
• Hire is available from 9 am and all craft must be returned by 5 pm.

Sailing

Derwent Water Marina is a Royal Yachting Association Accredited Training Centre and offers a range of courses leading to the internationally recognised RYA certificates.
Alternatively, they can arrange tuition to suit you – it could be a half-day taster session for your first sail, or a chance to refresh your skills if you haven’t sailed for a while. Please call to find out more.
They offer all of the courses listed below in either sailing dinghies or our Hawk 20 keelboat. If you have your own boat they offer own boat tuition so you can learn how to get the most out of it!
They also offer family day sailing outings for two adults and up to three children (under 16) in one boat. Please do contact them to make arrangements.

Windsurfing

Derwent Water Marina also offers a range of RYA windsurfing courses, from beginners to advanced skills. 
Alternatively, they can arrange tuition to suit you – it could be a half-day taster session for your first time out on a windsurfer or a chance to update your skills.

Canoe, Kayak & Stand Up Paddle Boards (SUP’S)

A great way to explore the lake and enjoy the wildlife and scenery of Derwent Water. Why not have some tuition to set you on your way to hiring one of the canoes, kayaks or SUP’S?
Family Special
Family Canoe, Kayak or SUP outings can be arranged for two or more adults and all children (under 16 ) in one family. Please contact them to arrange this. The adults pay £55 each and the children £8 each for a two hour session.
