Get gripped as you smash your way up our indoor real ice wall, an experience you won’t forget.
Climbing sheer ice is an experience that not many get to have but here at KONG Adventure we can give you this opportunity in a safe and controlled environment, we can even supply you with all the equipment required for your session!
How does it work?
After initially packing the wall with ice we fluctuate the temperature to bring it into the perfect conditions, this allows for the climber, using ice axes and crampons, to make the way to the top of the wall with ease.
New to ice climbing?
No worries, we have highly experienced instructors on hand to get you started, from correctly fitting the equipment to the skills required to get you climbing. This is a fun and exciting experience that can be enjoyed all year round, click here to book a taster session. All equipment is provided on a taster session.
Got your own tools?
If you’re already a competent ice climber and you would just like to have a go of our Ice Wall, then all we ask is that you complete a quick assessment to make sure you know what you’re doing safely.
Your Ice axes and Crampons must be sharp with Adze and Hammers removed or padded, we also ask you to have leashes on your axes and to wear suitable protection for your eyes, hands and head.
If you’ve forgotten something or don’t have what you need, we have a full set of winter equipment available to hire from warm clothing to Axes and Crampons – see our kit rental prices.
Mixed Climbing and Dry Tooling
Our ice wall also contains a few lines of Mixed Climbing, where you use you axes and crampons to climb up ice and features. Unlike pure ice climbing, mixed climbing requires you to place the axe on holds and features before carefully putting your weight on to the tools.
We also host dry tooling competitions throughout the year, this is where you climb routes using axes and stiff boots in our main wall getting over obstacles like chains, logs, torque cracks and micro placements. See our events page for any upcoming events.
